I'm currently looking at a property which has a stone barn (currently an agricultural building) on the land. I know that you need to apply for planning permission if you want to do a barn conversion and turn it into a residence. But I have a question around what stone barns are allowed to be used for. For example, if I turned the barn into a workshop and art studio (non-commercial, just for personal use) would I need planning to do this? Would it be the same planning permission required for a residence? Apologies if this is a stupid question, this is all fairly new to me.
