House parking problems!! Pic included

I absolutely love this house the only issue is that there is no real designated parking as the driveway has been converted and it's on a busy road. Anytime I drive past theres always spaces but not always outside the house. Would this put you off?

Any suggestions/horror stories that might put me off?

It feels very exposed and on a busy road. I’d be massive put off.

That whole house?? It’s gorgeous!

It looks like there’s a little driveway to the left?

I have a similar parking situation. You get used to not being able to park out front, but it is annoying. We have one neighbour who makes sure no one does dick parking (like in your photo) where if everyone just moved the fuck up you’d fit another car in.

OneEpisode · 11/08/2020 22:46

Is there a dropped curve still? Could a short car fit?

lockdown555 · 11/08/2020 22:46

I could not cope with the stress of not being able to get parked (I used to have this situation and it was awful - cast a shadow every time we left the house!!)

How does your neighbour manage that? Parking like that drives me insane!!

Sorry OP didn’t answer your question

We only have on street parking here. You do get used to it and it’s not a problem.... unless people park like In you photo - then that is really annoying Wink

DameLucy · 11/08/2020 23:04

Just no. Too stressful sorry. Although beautiful house

KenDodd · 11/08/2020 23:11

How long would you hope to stay in the house?
I would also think about the future and possible electric car charging. Perhaps they will have a solution for road parked cars though.

BlueSlice · 11/08/2020 23:22

@pistachioicecream
By being very firm, constantly on it and not caring what people think:
Step One is basically bringing it up nicely as soon as you’ve moved in (“don’t you think it’s a good idea if we all park like X?”)
Step Two very quickly moves on to coming out to ‘help you park’ if you don’t park thoughtfully enough with lots of “there now, isn’t that better? Now you know how then I won’t need to remind you again will I?”
Step Three is getting very shouty. I’ve only ever seen it once and it’s never needed to happen since.

SquirtleSquad · 11/08/2020 23:27

@BlueSlice I hate inconsiderate parking as much as the next person, but fuck me! She sounds a bit much..

BlueSlice · 11/08/2020 23:34

Definitely @SquirtleSquad 😂 in terms of parking she is. But it’s beneficial and she’s fairly normal in every other way. Just don’t park like a dick and neighbourhood life is rosy enough.

pistachioicecream · 11/08/2020 23:53

“Just don’t park like a dick and neighbourhood life is rosy enough”

Sounds perfect to me ;-) I need to get a sign made for our street!

Newnamenewopenme · 12/08/2020 00:15

I need to borrow the neighbour in charge of parking! We can get 2 in front of ours but there’s always an idiot parked slap bang in the middle limiting it to one (opposite a playground so different people daily). I think my dirty looks are getting better though because I’ve started getting apologies shouted out from the playground recently, I always follow it with “no need to apologise, just think of more than yourself next time and only take one space” and then pretend like my bags are really heavy as I walk from the top of the street where I’ve abandoned my car!

They have hookups on the streetlights here in S London
