Paint brand that’s better rated than Farrow and ball

I’ve read on here about a posh paint brand that’s “heritage” and preferred by decorators than F&B but o can’t for the life of me remember the name or find it on Google. Can anyone help?

@GCAcademic no it’s not Little Greene - it’s a brand I had never heard of before and never see it referenced anywhere except for one time on mumsnet. It’s a “heritage” type English brand

Established well before Farrow and Ball, but in the US, Benjamin Moore. Their paint is amazing

Graham&Browne? I used some paint by them recently and it was really good. I'm not sure if they are a heritage brand or middle class or whatever though, I don't really know about that sort of thing.

Yes. There are a couple of BM showrooms and it's for sale through a limited number of independent decorator centres. Also there is a BM UK website with fast delivery.

The paint is imported from the US and isnt cheap. But neither is Mylands. BM goes further and has better opacity than any paint I've ever used. Just painted a room in BM Aura and it pretty much covered bare plaster in one coat, perfect in two. Beautiful matt finish and scrubbable.

I've used Mylands as well, and it's good too in fairness.

As a cheaper and obscure alternative, Andura Titanium isn't bad either.

No not a decorator. Just currently painting a large house. And was looking for scrubbable paint which I could wipe mucky hand prints off.

I started off on the Benjamin Moore but have moved onto andura to save some money. It half the price, very flat and scrubbable and they do decent matches to F&b, LG etc. If money was no object, it would be BM for me though. Its a pleasure to use.

Used a lot of Mylands in my last house. For some reason I seemed to get a much better finish with lighter colours rather than darker ones. It's miles better than F&b though which always seems to need 3 coats min.

Will concur that little greene is good stuff, though lighter shades, bizarrely, need more coats. Mid tones are pretty much done in one.

I'm not sure why people trash F&B so much. I'm beyond thrilled with the coverage I've gotten using their paint - two coats were enough for my walls using Modern Emulsion. My decorator really liked using it too, as did my brother who got my leftover paint. He told me how much better he thought it was than Johnstones or Dulux (I used both of these in my flat too)- granted, it ought to be better given the price, but judging by the comments I've seen online, apparently F&B is no better than Dulux.

I have had really good results with Craig & Rose paint (Dutch White and Payne's Grey). I find their coverage better than F&B and good on price.

Got Little Greene, don't rate it. Next time I'll stick with a mainstream brand like Dulux.

After forking our for F&B as a treat I was gutted by the quality. So thin and takes so many layers. I went back to Earthborn. Really lovely to use. Lovely colours that change in the light. No smell and really environmentally sound. Will never switch back. Don’t think you’d call them ‘heritage’ though but not sure how you’d define that.
