Can move anywhere with a good school...but where?

Hi, my family and I are looking to relocate from South West London to somewhere more affordable. We are looking for places up to 2 hours commute to London now that we won't have to commute more than 1 or 2 times a week. We love the idea of living in the country or a small village...the only thing there must be is a good secondary school (we would consider a great independent school if property is affordable).

It would be a plus if it was near water (steam, river, lake).

Does anyone know of a magical place like this?

What’s your budget and how many bedroom?

Parts of Suffolk (Woodbridge?) or Essex are very nice.

Rutland? Big lake obviously, pretty villages, think it's fairly affordable.

Our budget is about £600k and need at least a 3 bedroom (or 2 that we can extend).

With that budget you could move pretty much anywhere out of London.

Yes, but the problem is we're not from the UK so don't know where we could move. Would love to find a good school somewhere rural (or semi rural).

www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk

If you search by ‘local authority’ and put in the name of a county, it’ll tell you where all the best schools are.

Are you looking to be specifically far away from London, ie 2h or would you be ok with the commuter belt in case you change jobs and need to commute more?

Surrey has lovely coutryside so you could look around Reigate, Dorking, Guildford, Haslemere etc I know the first 2 are close to lakes that you can sail on. You’d probably meet a lot of people who’d moved out of SW London too.

Godalming? Direct trains to London, village feel, great schools
