Mortgage Offer

Hi wonder if anyone can help. So we’ve put an offer in on a house which was accepted. We applied for a mortgage through Trussle mortgage brokers with Platform.

Platform took £999 arrangement fee from our account on 24 July but haven’t yet given us a mortgage offer. Is this normal? We’re a bit stressed in case after all this wait the bank turns round and says they won’t offer us the amount. We have asked Trussle but they are non the wiser.

Anyone have any experience whether the bank taking the money means we’ve met the criteria and we’ll be approved ?

Sorry no one probably knows the answer but we really want the house and don’t want to get our hopes up for them to be dashed again!

Op that was nearly two weeks ago, have you not even called them?

The explanation of their charges are on their website.

@Bluntness100 we can’t actually go direct to the lender as they only correspond through a broker. We’ve emailed Trussle on several occasions and they’re saying their is no update and we’ll hear in a “couple” of days

We didn't pay the fee until we had accepted the mortgage offer. Seems very bizarre!

Dynamodopey · 05/08/2020 19:20

@2155User oh dear that’s making me even more nervous. We got an email from Trussle saying the lender wanted both the arrangement fee and the valuation fee (we wanted a detailed survey) upfront as we were asking for a 85% LTV mortgage.

I wish I could help you more but I really have no idea.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along!

Hi OP, I was with Platform previously via a broker but I always called them direct. I would give them a call and explain, I am sure they will be able to help you. They didn't take the arrange ment fee until after we accepted their offer. I did find them very helpful when I settled my mortgage with them.

I’d also call them op. The broker sounds like they are not on the ball

Dynamodopey · 05/08/2020 20:41

Ok thank you everyone I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
