Help me find somewhere between Devon and London

Hello, I am aware there are often threads like this, so sorry for asking again! I have only ever lived in Devon, as a child and then London as an adult, so keen on advice from others. We are looking to move out of Central/ SE London for the usual reasons, mainly more space for kids to run round. We would like to move towards Devon, so to the North, South or best of all west of London. Maximum 1.5 hours commute to London, ideally less. Near a city, and preferably in or Within walking distance of a town. We like cycling, theatre, outdoor stuff, parks, Trees, fitness would like to be near a swimming pool/ leisure center. We both drive, but I don’t like driving, so somewhere that you can get around on foot would be good. Kids are nursery and primary age, state school educated. We would idealily like a house with a granny annex for a granny! Thanks so much if you can suggest anywhere!

Winchester, it’s a lovely place to live. Has lots to do and fantastic state schools and that budget will get you a very desirable house.

Petersfield, Winchester or Haslemere? All on good train lines for London (no train station in Midhurst).

Petersfield and Winchester are both good options. Or Guildford - closer to London but surrounded by countryside. Plus it's only 35 minutes to Waterloo.

Or possibly Reading or Newbury?

As suggested above. Winchester, Petersfield, Haslemere would all be good options and deliver what you want. Your budget would get a good house in a good area.
