Valspar water based gloss paints

Bitterly disappointed with my visit to B&Q, I wanted an old Dulux Gloss colour for repainting a banister rail, the local Dulux Decorating shop was having great difficulty getting base colours for mixing during the virus, hence ending up at B&Q, sadly they now use Valspar and to mix a colour it is only available as water based, after laboriously rubbing down the rail and undercoating it was time to paint, tramlines galore and drying out so fast the paint was not flatting out, when dry a second coat was still poor, a third using a roller...no better, next day sanded right down and using a new synthetic brush with soft bristles repainted, the finish was more even so later applied a final coat, but there is no shine, its better described as satin, very poor. Yes it dries quick, there's no smell, clean up in water but wheres the gloss, long live solvent paints.

Buy either Johnstone's or Dulux Trade paints. If you don't have a local supplier then order on line. They will mix them for you as well

second the try to find dulux trade gloss we used it in our kitchen admittedly white but its covered very well and is very glossy compared to satin finish which my son persuaded us to use in the hall and which i was very dissapointed with

Paints Direct are awesome, you can get any Dulux paint, any colour, delivered in two days. I wouldn't use anything but Dulux after many poor experiences with crappy paints. I'm not with you on the gloss though, horrible stuff! Satinwood all the way (Dulux, of course!)

I had my house decorated last year. The decorator refused to use Valspar and recommend Dukux or Johnstone's instead. But he did couloir match from the Valspar as the others didn't have the right colour.
