Help with kitchen diner layout

I need some help please with layout of a kitchen diner...nothing extravagant, just doing a kitchen/diner knock through and we will have an L shaped kitchen + dining table and hoping to squeeze in a sofa (ideally an L shaped sofa but give the width of the room we probably can only have a 2 seater). Sketch attached, I would love to hear thoughts/ideas...😊

Mock up looks good OP. What about an island where the table is in the middle of the kitchen space and your table in your dining bit infront of the L shaped sofa if that makes sense?

Can you only access the study from the garage? Wouldn’t the garage be better being at the front and the study at the back therefore giving access from the kitchen diner?

Sorry, just another thought. You could have one side of the island as a breakfast bar with stools so you can eat on their too. My kids have their snacks after school/nursery on ours while I cook dinner

Yes, the study will be at the back if the garage and we are knocking a door through from current dining room to access the space internally...

Not sure the room is wide enough for an island as is just below 3 m wide, and we did think of a bar but We will just keep the table for simplicity (again due to width we might only be able to place a small one?)

Do you have a living room as well?

If so, I'd leave the sofa out and put the table at that end of the room. The current plan looks a bit cramped. If you had extra kitchen units where the table is you'd have much more usable kitchen and a much less cramped dining table.

Is the area in front of the sofa larger and would house the table better? Might be better to do units along the bottom wall of the kitchen also and leave the middle free?
If not, a small table would work well and the plan you’ve already shown looks good.

We have a separate living room, but since I spend most of my time in the kitchen I was thinking a smallish sofa there to rest my feet will be good Grin

I like the idea of putting the table at the other end of the room...makes sense! Perhaps bench seating in that corner along the wall to make up for the lost sofa? 😅😅

Where is the door to the utility room?
Is there a window above the kitchen sink? (If there is then you could probably block up the whole of the side door, which would allow for a longer run of kitchen wall units/enormous fridge or whatever.

There's a lot less kitchen in the new layout - wouldn't work for me. I'd rather lose the sofa (maybe have comfy dining chairs) and more kitchen.

Oh yes, should have said the back door will be blocked up...so we will have units there too. To be honest we don’t use all units at the moment so we won’t be at a loss. And yes, there is a door from the kitchen to the utility and a window in front of the sink. Attaching few pics here in case this helps 😊

Exciting!!! I see what you mean about the room being too narrow for an island. Another thought; what about U shaped kitchen units so maybe just one cupboard where the wall (where the sweeping brush is) has been removed that doubles up as a breakfast bar? Then your table in the dining area with the sofa. Might be better to keep your kitchen clutter free and adds another dimension to the soace

Good advice Louise! Will look into that. The room is quite long so I think it can probably cope with a sofa too without looking too cramped but I shall reassess and remeasure things again 😊

If you are struggling to fit a sofa in I echo the previous advice about getting comfortable dining chairs. You could even get say an upholstered dining bench- it would fulfil the function of both sofa an dining furniture.

We have a really comfortable set of dining chairs and you can sit on them for hours.
