Would you buy this house without a garden?

Maybe... if I didn't have children. It's lovely inside isn't it and the outside area would be lovely for barbecues etc

InTheCludgie · 19/07/2020 21:59

Agree with Corona, probably fine if no children

xxKatie9806xx · 19/07/2020 22:02

Yes possibly if I didn’t have kids.

Seeingadistance · 19/07/2020 22:03

No, but I enjoy gardening.

ShyTown · 19/07/2020 22:04

I don’t know the area the house is in at all. Is a small patio the norm or would that price point typically get you a proper garden? It’s beautifully decorated so if the house were in a the middle of a great town/city with a can’t beat location and the outside space is standard for the area then I’d consider but otherwise I wouldn’t. Also contrary to other posters I do have kids and an outside space not much bigger than that but I have 4 great parks within a short walk because we live in a city centre.

Ohhgreat · 19/07/2020 22:04

Its got outside space! Yes crap if you have two football mad 10 year olds, but theres space for a bbq and a washing line, so fine as long as theres a park nearby.
A quick look at the recently sold prices though, and it's very expensive! A 3 bed detached sold last year for £306k...

AriettyHomily · 19/07/2020 22:05

No, I love my outside space

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 19/07/2020 22:06

Not for that price.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/07/2020 22:06

God no, it's absolutely awful the opposite of what I'd ever consider. No garden is the least of its worries.

Bluntness100 · 19/07/2020 22:07

I think that outside space is too small so no. They’ve used the garden for their extension and there is nothing left. It would put me off to be honest.

AristotleAteMyHamster · 19/07/2020 22:07

Yes, but not at that price!

FindMeInTheSunshine · 19/07/2020 22:08

No, I couldn't bear not having green space. I'd have to rip out all the decking and lay lawn!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 19/07/2020 22:09

ShyTown - East Boldon is basically the commuter belt for Newcastle, lots of arable land about but not much else.

cooperbug · 19/07/2020 22:10

We have kids and have a garden in the house we are in at present.

The price would typically buy you a garden yes and it’s in a very nice area. However you wouldn’t get anything done to this kind of standard with a mix of modern/traditional features.

We are out at parks etc often with the children so I do t think that’s the main issue just whether we would struggle to sell it when the time came?

I live fairly near here (not very very but I know the area) and I think it is on the expensive side to not have a garden. We moved 18m ago and most of the houses we saw of this sort of age and location did have gardens- Not always huge but larger than that one.

Cheesypea · 19/07/2020 22:12

Looks like they have recently converted? And sacrificed outside space.

PurBal · 19/07/2020 22:13

Would I buy somewhere without a garden? Yes, but it depends on the house. Would I buy the house you sent? Nope.

mallrat · 19/07/2020 22:14

I wouldn't pay that much for a house without a decent garden especially not with kids (or pets). Having a park nearby is good but it's no replacement for being able to play outside, have a paddling pool or a trampoline.

MKmummy123 · 19/07/2020 22:15

No idea about the area and price but the house is beautiful and I would definitely consider it if I didn’t have 3 feral children who would destroy it without a garden to run off their energy in!!!

AristotleAteMyHamster · 19/07/2020 22:17

This is in the same road - yes, the house you linked was extended and redecorated but I can’t see that it’s worth an extra £145k (and actually I personally like the cheaper one more)

BertiesLanding · 19/07/2020 22:17

Far too much house for the footprint. Awful.

Nixen · 19/07/2020 22:17

Well that house does have a garden, it just doesn’t have grass.

But no I wouldn’t buy it

Northernsoullover · 19/07/2020 22:18

I love it. I'd fill that outside space with planters and make it beautiful.

ChocoTrio · 19/07/2020 22:18

I like the interiors - some rooms with high ceilings, bay windows and the decor is to my taste.

Regarding garden: there is outdoor space, but it's all decking. The decking does look smart, but it's not very garden-like; it make me think of a small pub garden tbh lol!

Hmm I don't know the area, but I think that would influence a decision. After this covid situation having gardens has become a priority for a lot of people. This place doesn't not have a garden - it's just very small and all decked.

Tbf new build houses have small gardens like that too. They still sell...
