Would you buy this house without a garden?

Not ideal but it has an outdoor space so yes if it ticked all the other boxes I would go for it.

Bluntness100 · 20/07/2020 07:53

Actually on looking again, I think part of the problem is it’s so stark.

If it was some beautiful paving out there, and all the fences were covered in climbers, clematis or jasmine for example, and they had loads of varying size pots, from huge to small, with plants in, it would look a lot more welcoming. And many more people would be encouraged because not everyone wants a lawn. Particularly if you have teens or grown up kids who come back to visit.

If you had the funds, as it would be expensive, I’d rip put the decking and put a beautiful pale coloured stone patio in, maybe porcelain, leave a very small border and grow climbers all over the fences, And then fill it with pots with varying size plants and it could be fantastic. And look like a garden.

The fundamental issue is it is so hard and stark it is unwelcoming.

KingOfDogShite · 20/07/2020 07:57

I can’t see it making that price really. The house is okay but it’s been seriously over extended.

ImAncient · 20/07/2020 07:57

Pre lockdown I’d have considered it. Post lockdown not a chance.

madcatladyforever · 20/07/2020 07:59

It has plenty of outside space, just not a traditional grass garden, some people don't want that. Id never buy a home with no outside space but a courtyard garden and somewhere to sit even if there is no grass is fine.

Howhighsthewaterpa6 · 20/07/2020 08:05

I know the area, but would not pay that amount for that house in that area, no garden would be a no from me, it looks like a pub outside sitting area.

Your paying for a 'done' house, is the rest of the house to your taste?

Its also not that far to the metro, handy for some but hearing the metro would also put me off.

Would rather look at Cleadon for that amount, with a garden .

@DesdemonaDryEyes 🤣🤣🤣. I thought the same about the bathrooms and now you mention it I agree with the dog comment too.

Therunecaster · 20/07/2020 08:09

Oooo I live very close to this house. It's a busy but lovely street in a very nice village.

SnakesOrLadders · 20/07/2020 08:14

Not for that op no.
Quick search in that area this one has garden and much better price in area

Wow beautiful house, but I just don't think I could live without a decent sized garden, but I've got 2 young kids who spend a lot of time on their trampoline. At least it does have some outside space, but I guess it depends on how important a garden is for you. For me, it is up there as one of my essentials, and preferably a south facing garden. If that little bit of outside space is North or East facing, I would be even less inclined to buy that house.

SnakesOrLadders · 20/07/2020 08:16

This one not for everyone but I think it’s very pretty

gardenbridge · 20/07/2020 08:16

No. It's been overdeveloped

DazzleCamouflage · 20/07/2020 08:19

No. It's charmless and bleak inside and out, and decoratively looks as if designed by a committee of robots.

AltheaVestr1t · 20/07/2020 08:25

No definitely not. The garden is one of the most important parts of the house!

burnoutbabe · 20/07/2020 08:35

Yes, assuming price is okay for the area. It's the sort of balcony/roof space I'd love in a flat.

Garden area looks pretty big to me. I was assuming size of small bedroom but this rubs length of neck of house.

(No kids)

Hmmph · 20/07/2020 08:36

What’s with the lack of floor plans? 3/4 houses on this thread don’t have them! That’s one of the most important things you need when selling a house, surely?!

But as to original question - no, I wouldn’t.

hedgehogger1 · 20/07/2020 09:18

No it looks the built an extension that's too big for the plot

nettie434 · 20/07/2020 09:29

[quote AristotleAteMyHamster]This is in the same road - yes, the house you linked was extended and redecorated but I can’t see that it’s worth an extra £145k (and actually I personally like the cheaper one more)

I agree with Aristotle. The house with the terrace is very large and I think two of the bedrooms had ensuites as well as the huge kitchen but it seemed very expensive to me (and I live in London). As others have said, having a garden has been a bonus with coronavirus.
