Plumbing a dishwasher in

Completely green about this. We’ve space for a dishwasher in our kitchen and I’m desperate for one (3 kids; the washing up is endless!). Is there a specific place it needs to go? I know this is an epically stupid question and I’m assuming it obviously needs to go by the water supply? But how do you get it plumbed in if there’s no prior pipes like with a washing machine?

It needs to be close to the sink to use the same drain and water supply.

The inlet and drainage pipes supplied with mine were only 1.5 meters long so unless you want to buy longer ones that will affect where it can be situated.
A lot of dishwashers are cold water feed only, so if your washing machine is also cold water feed you might need some plumbing modifications to split the pipe for 2 inlets.
However we purposely bought a machine that could be ran from the hot water supply to save having to do this.
