Are navy kitchens over?

Morning everyone. We have recently moved, we have a large kitchen diner overlooking a lovely garden. We need a new kitchen. My heart is saying go for the character full navy kitchen with pale marble worktops that I’ve always wanted, but my head is saying go for something safe that won’t date, such as pale beige type colour. Argh! I cannot decide - it’s such a lot of money (yes I am aware this is definitely a first world problem - we are very very lucky to be even thinking about this at all!). The dining table area is very light, the kitchen end is darker. Wwyd?

I'm about to have my navy and grey kitchen installed (grey wall units, blue base and tall units) and I couldn't be more excited.

If I were playing it safe, I'd have opted for grey/white gloss... But I didn't want to deprive myself of the navy shaker I'd coveted for so long

Wow, thank you so much ladies, some really interesting and thoughtful ideas here - I knew you lot wouldn’t let me down. It’s very frustrating when you have been in lockdown with only three other males in the house for company, none of whom care , so therefore do not want to spend ages talking about, what kind of new kitchen we go for!

@skippy67 you don’t have to like trends, that’s not how they work. It wouldn’t be my first choice either to be honest.

Testing name change

Very outing so I name changed but here's my navy kitchen that we had fitted just before lockdown. I love it! Go for what you like...

@navykitchen beautiful! Can I ask where the units are from and which worktop you went for?

soupdragon321 · 17/07/2020 10:29

Ah it looks lovely! I really like the two different cabinet colours effect. It’s great to hear all these different points of view - men can be useless sometimes, and as much as I love DH and Ds’s, them just saying ‘go for whatever you like’ is not helpful!

Ours is a dark blue/grey that looks bluer in some light and very dark grey as the light changes. I got a good quality wood kitchen that fits the style of the house so that if I get fed up of a colour it can be painted. Much more environmentally friendly than a new kitchen

@Smallgoon the kitchen and worktops are from Wren. The worktop is white quartz with a tiny sparkle in it. It’s called Aspen Ice.
Wren weren’t the cheapest but we liked the extra touches they offered and we couldn’t fault the service. We fitted it ourselves but the aftercare was good when we came across small issues or had any questions about fitting.
