5mm gap between bay window curtain tracks.

We have curtain tracks in our bay window.

Actually two tracks with a gap of about 4-5mm between them where they "meet" in the middle.

Annoyingly, this means that the hooks "fall" into the gap whenever the curtains are closed, unless we dont close them all the way, and they need to be hooked out.

We have found workarounds, including putting blutac in the gap, and currently has a rather fetching elastic band Hmm. We want to get new curtains soon, so wonder if there is a more permanent solution?

There is nothing else wrong with the tracks, so don't want to replace them. (The upstairs bay does need a new track which'll cost about £280, so financially can't do both.)

Is there a product that can bridge the gap between the tracks? The tracks are approximately 2cm wide. As I say, the gap is about 4-5mm.

You can’t loosen the screws holding the track and push them together?

I did think about that, but there are four bends in the track, so they would then be out of position. But maybe as it's only 2.5mm each side it wont make too much of a difference? I'm guessing the track was bent to fit the specific curves of the window.

I agree with moving the track after loosening the screws. You can usually ease the track along. Common with tracks that have been in place a while.

You need this

Ah, thanks @7to25. I might give the joiner thing a go, and if that doesn't do the trick, move the track along.
