Most economical way to build steps from sliding doors to garden?

We need to build steps from a new extension down to the garden. It's a drop of about 45cm so we need 3 steps. It's from 4m wide sliding doors down to the garden. What's the most economical way to do this? Is it achievable for under £1k?? We went over budget on our build so need to minimise the cost! Also due to covid, we will have time to DIY it if necessary. We're not amazingly highly skilled DIY-ers, but willing to have a go!!

We’re just having this done on our extension which counts similar . We need it for building control final sign off

Builder doing Drainage channel (acco?) and 1 step. Cost about £1000 excluding the slabs. Inside M25 . It’s probably doable by good diyers, but def need to think about drainage. I can send you pictures and more info if you dm me

The same builder did our steps to the garden which needed foundations so this would add to the cost

Thanks wohmum, that's useful to know. Our quote was nearly £2k -outside M25, but south-east, so maybe it's actually more reasonable than we thought.

We’ve had steps made out of decking twice. Both times they cost a few hundred pounds I think.

We made two decking platforms stacked on top of each other, the bottom one twice the surface area of the top one. Bolted to house somehow I think. Cost negligible.

Thank you for the tips - looks like it’ll be decking then, I had no idea it was so much cheaper!

Be aware that decking steps can be slippery when wet /frosty.
