How many properties did you view and offer in before you got your home?

Hi, I offered on first one I viewed (didn't get accepted) and about to offer on the 7th house I've viewed. Just wondering how much is it a numbers game or do you just know when you know?

Our first house (back in 2006) we looked at 5 and offered on just the one we bought. I’d known it was the one from the moment I saw it in the estate agent’s window.

Our current house (2016), we looked round about 6 houses, but fell in love with the first one and offered on it. We couldn’t agree a price, so kept looking. In total we saw about 10 houses, but none of the later ones made much of an impact. I realised that I was still thinking about one of the earlier houses (that we had dismissed when we were focused on the first one we had viewed and were offering on), so we went back to view it again and realised it was just what we wanted. Our first viewing had been done by an estate agent, who knew nothing about it, and was at night when you couldn’t see the lovely views all around the house. As soon as we went back for the second viewing I knew it could feel like our home. I’m actually really glad we missed out on the first house, as I think ours is much nicer

I have offered and been accepted on house number 8 it wasn't my original house no.8 that was a separation sale so I took the advice from everyone on here and politely stepped away. I had to up my budget in the end but fingers crossed this works out as seller has only started house hunting this weekend and it's pretty crazy in our area

For what it is worth, we didn’t start looking until we had an offer on ours (we didn’t want to fall in love with somewhere and then not be able to sell quick enough). We did all of our looking in two weeks, so it didn’t really slow anything down.
