I am not a fan of wallpaper but DH is....I'm being open minded to the idea for our hallway so please show me your wallpapered hallways and recommendations for light, simple wallpapers that you love!

we just painted over the textured paper that was here when we moved in last year as it wasn't in bad condition and papering a hall is a pain in the rear

I think the reason people often went for thick textured wallpaper in their halls was that is absorbs general knocks and bumps. A hallway is a high traffic area for wallpaper, compared to, say, a feature wall in a bedroom / living room.

You could put up some nice thick lining paper and paint that but I'd be wary of choosing a pattern where knocks and scratches are going to show.

How about a painted wall or painted panelling below a dado rail, with wallpaper above?
Google, pinterest or houzz should give you some more ideas.

Jammakingwannabe do you know where this wallpaper is from ? Thanks

I went for a textured paper in the end (Anaglypta, shock horror!) but I am really pleased. Painted the corridor white and gave it a darker colour at the end (and used this in the porch). I also looked at wallpaper but figured it wouldn't withstand and knocks etc.

Not helpful at all....

but when we had a leak in our bathroom (which was covered by insurance) it meant they would have had to re-wallpaper the whole stairwell and landings.

Paid an extra £50 to have it all stripped off and the walls skimmed. Makes re-decorating so much easier

Previously, had a dado rail and had slightly different paper above and below.

It's also a bit of a nightmare wallpapering a hallway due to all the doors and odd angles from the stairs
