My very elderly aunt and uncle are planning a move to a retirement complex in Newquay and have asked us for some advice. We don’t know the area at all, other than it’s popular with holidaymakers. Could anyone give me any information that would help? Is it noisy/quiet and/or generally nice for an elderly couple new to the area - that sort of thing? Would be very grateful for any opinions!

Newquay is a massive party town popular with surfers and stag do's. They would probably be happier somewhere quieter!

Agree, very active night life there and a hot spot for stag and hen do's. If they are away from the town centre then they may be okay.

This is really helpful.... I did wonder about the “party” aspect. Thank you @BlusteryLake and @EventRider1....

Newquay has calmed down a lot from the party town of a few years ago; there are a lot of quieter satellite villages too though. Is it in the town itself?

The scenery in Newquay is beautiful, there are a lot of retirement apartments that enjoy these views.
The nightlife is nowhere near as busy as it used to be, so unless you're in the town centre it's easily avoided
As a previous poster said there are many peaceful satellite villages too.

I think it is in the main town; looking at the info on the website, it’s on the main road near the beach and not far from the station? I’m just worried that they may be getting more than the peaceful sea views they’re thinking about if they’re in a noisy town centre? Great fun when you’re 18, not so much when you’re 88!

Really appreciate the responses.

I think I know which development you are talking about. Those apartments are quite new and very nice, enjoying great views, a flat walk into town and they are situated away from any bars.
My Gran retired to Newquay and loved it.
(I may sound like I'm trying to sell it to you - I don't work for the estate agent! ! I am just familiar with the area with my Gran being there).

Oh, that’s reassuring @Haveakitkat. Thank you!
