Replacement toilet seat-odd fitting-help!

I have been trying to find a replacement toilet seat. It's got a weird fitting to it and if I could unscrew it I think it would have the normal holes underneath.

The seat I've got has a metal piece that clicks into a metal piece that is screwed onto the toilet. Does anyone have a clue what I'm on about?

The place I bought it from has gone into administration and I have only been able to find the wrong shaped loo seat online. I need a D shaped one.

I will try to attach pictures.

i believe the bit left is part of old fitting.
if you purchased new full fitting, then just snap that bit, give it a good clean and fit the new one.

The new toilet seat would need to have this fitting but we can't find a d shaped one with it on. The plumber said it should just unscrew but it won't, the screw is stuck. I think we'll have to get him round to cut the screw off. I have cleaned the fitting and it works fine with the old cracked seat! Thanks for replying.

Oh, you are saying I could buy a new fixing like this and put it on any loo seat? I think you are right. I will have a look and see if I can find one. Thanks for that, I'm not sure what the fixture is called. When we went to a plumbing supply place the man had never seen one before.
