How much communication with sellers/EA?

Buying a house, have appointed conveyancers and done all the starting paperwork for them, have applied for mortgage and waiting for progress on that. Will be getting a survey in a few weeks.

The EA says the seller wants to 'move quickly' - we are going as fast as we can (we are chain free), but a bit nervous as they had another offer at a similar value and chose ours due to our position.

Do I need to be keeping the seller informed via the EA as to where we are at? Or is that the EA's job? I don't want to lose the purchase because I've not bothered to pick up the phone.

No, you don't need to have any contact with the vendor at all. It is the EA's job to try to keep on top of making sure all is going smoothly.

Just make sure you reply to correspondence from solicitor, mortgage lender and EA as quickly as possible. Ask how long things should take a check in if there are things outstanding. Ensure all queries answered and issues resolved- sometimes people try and rush through sales in the hope details will be missed.
