Moving to Braintree area

Hi everyone,
My husband is being relocated for work and we are looking at properties in Braintree.
Heard good and bad things about Braintree and was wondering if it is a nice area to live?
Any advice would be really helpful!

Depends what you are looking for in Braintree. Lots of villages and other small towns close by to.

What things have you heard? Or good even. I live quite close so can confirm/deny.

I have a few friends from uni that live in Essex and they have said that Braintree can sometimes have some trouble. Mainly in the town though? The villages outside look very pretty. We are going to do a couple of trips there but we don't really know where to start to be honest.

We live south Braintree, near Notley High school, and its okay. The town centre is a bit tough though so nothing that bad.
The surrounding villages are lovely, especially the Notleys and Gosfield

Yes surrounding villages are lovely. Gosfield is nice. You also have the town of Halstead close by to. Braintree town definitely isn't a shopping highlight but you get the cinema and all restaurants nearby on the outskirts. Depends if you need the transport links to that Braintree has or if not needed then you can be further out.
