Textured ceiling repair

I had a hole in one of our ceilings from a previous room layout which I have now fixed, but I’m not sure how to replicate this pattern in the ceiling? I have tried using a sponge and a stipple brush, but neither of the patterns match up well enough. Does anyone know what I need to use to get this effect?

I know it won’t be a perfect match, but I can’t afford to get the ceiling plastered at the moment.

Thanks

I may well be wrong but that appears to look the same as using a fluffy roller with lots of paint. Try just one pass with the roller.

Thanks, I think you may be right and it’s not texture. I’ve been staring at it all morning and had a go with some filler mixed to a thin consistency which I let fall into a ‘drip’ and it’s getting better. I’ll try getting a fluffy roller and see how it goes. Thankfully it’s only a small section!
