So we got a quote today for a new door, we chose what we wanted from the website, the guy measured the door, then gave us a quote.
We left it by saying thanks, we will let you know etc
However hubby has just had an email saying thanks for your order... wtf! Your door will be fitted on X date. We didn't sign anything.
Argh its put me off them now!

My parents had their windows replaced byva reputable local firm. They found that firms operating nationwide tended to be more expensive and have much poorer customer service. They dealt with a "one man band" who did an excellent job. Once it was finished, no hassle.

Glad I've found this thread and it's not just us!

We have just got rid of a Safestyle salesman who came out to quote this morning. Straight away he gave me the creeps. I am very obviously pregnant and both me and DH were wearing masks. Salesman insisted we didn't need to as he was fully vaccinated but we said we felt more comfortable doing so. He wore a mask but as the meeting went on his mask was pulled down below his chin.

I was suffering raging heartburn and kept having to get up and go outside to get some air. In the end after him showing us 2 videos promoting the company on his tablet I said I had had enough... could he just get on with the quote part, we can look into the rest another time. The man was creepy, with no tact and just reeled off a sales pitch whilst staring at my pregnancy bump.

Quote was originally £5k for a new front door!!! He slashed it to £2500 immediately and then following a telephone call with his manager it went down to £1900! He insinuated that we were unreasonable fo expect it any cheaper.

Still absolutely no way. In the end I thanked him for coming out and walked out leaving DH to see him out.

They are truly dreadful and I know they'll be calling us non stop now!!!

OMG SAME HERE!! Filled in an online request for an initial quote- was called back within 20seconds then relentlessly pursued by phone & emails every day for weeks.

One bloke, when angling to come round to measure-up, tried asking “if there was a Mr Plucky?” I told him my relationship info was not relevant to my door situation. He tried saying he’d only be able to go through styles/quotes if “Mr Plucky” was there also. Perish the thought that I might make a decision without a fictional husband!

Told him I was horribly put off by his ill-advised sales technique and to leave me alone or I’d report them for harassment. Blocked the number. Will never go near the bastards again.

@Beebeekeeper

Gosh I'm so glad I've seen this. They wouldn't give me a quote without my husband present. God forbid naughty little wife would go door shopping with her own money without his permission. GROSS. Glad from these either comments that the quoting was cancelled. Either they are misogynistic dinosaurs or bizarre aggressive sales tactics.
I thought that stuff about the husband being present stopped in about 1980. We had one salesman do that to us at about that time which I thought was a throwback to the 1950s even then, and I made darn sure I got my revenge (wasted lots of his time and then didn't order).

Don't do it. I have never dealt with them but my house had 4 year old safestyle windows fitted when I moved in. The quality is really bad. To give you an idea, I'm having to redo all the interior sealant after just 4 years! Several panels have blown. Some windows clearly aren't aligned properly. All still in theory under the 10yesr warranty but I can't face calling them & having that inevitable battle yet.

@StCharlotte

We must have been lucky as we had all our windows from them last year and they were fine.
Same. They replaced all the windows and external doors in my parents’ house and the entire process was fine. The haggling resulted in a price less than 50% of the original quote.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT go to SafeStyle.......we had 6 windows, back door, composite front door & french doors fitted in Apr '21 - after an inspector & four teams (that's a total of 9 people!) having returned several times to complete the job & do 'adjustments', we still DON'T have any windows boards (sills) & have a damaged back door. Now the manager, Alex won't speak to me about it.....This has now been on-going for FIFTEEN weeks - BE WARNED & GO ELSEWHERE!!

Sugarplumfairy65 · 11/08/2021 11:21

My ex husband was a regional sales manager for them.
I would rather have bits of cardboard up at my windows than use Safestyle. They are cowboys.
The profile they use is cheap and poor quality, the fitters they use are contractors who are bodge a job men who no reputable window company would employ.
They hold weekly sales meetings where they all laugh about how much money they've managed to squeeze out of gullible people particularly the elderly

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 11/08/2021 16:19

My SIL fell for the hard sell, genuinely thought the sales chap was doing them a favour by telling her I don't usually do this but let me speak to my manager and get you a great deal because I really like you. I could not believe what they charged her for her lovely little house. It was most of her savings too.

We went with a local company who have been trading for over 30 years, they make their own windows too so no middle man ringing round manufacturers trying to get the best price. Their showroom is above their factory, you get to see and feel it all before you buy. No regrets or complaints.
