Paint for original Victorian fireplace surround and tiles?

I'm not sure if the tiles are original (probably) but the rest is. It's metal of some kind. Black paint is peeling off a bit and although I've cleaned it it could do with freshening up.

Any recommendations of a paint I can use to show it off at its best? Thanks.

Have you thought of the traditional finish, black "lead"?
