Hi. Does anyone know what I could use to remove the 'shavers only' label from this socket without damaging the finish please?

has it been etched onto it?

MuddledUpAgain · 28/06/2020 10:52

It feels raised rather than an indent.

If it's etched could you paint it or stick something over it? However, wouldn't it be easier to change the socket? But, it has this written on it for safety reasons, so you might not be able to get a shaver socket that doesn't helpfully tell you what it is.

Bluntness100 · 28/06/2020 12:55

Nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol?

WhatWouldDominicDo · 28/06/2020 13:00

The question is - why is it shavers only? And should you be sticking something else in it?

WhatWouldDominicDo · 28/06/2020 13:00

Actually that was two questions Blush

I think all shaver sockets have this. It’s an example of ridiculous over legislation. The fact that someone somewhere (whether that’s parliament/some special committee on shaver sockets/relevant European body) actually decided that this should be a thing is beyond belief. What a waste of tax payer’s money. If just leave to be honest.

GingerFluffycat · 28/06/2020 13:39

Why do you want to remove the label?
It's surely only there for a reason - safety!
The one in my ensuite is similarly marked.

I also doubt the existence of a "special committee on shaver sockets", Emperor.

Thanks everyone-I'll give the nail polish remover a go Smile

I'm sure it is in there for safety, and in a hotel or similar I can understand the need but considering I've purchased it knowing it's use, it feels a bit overkill.

It also takes up a large proportion of the area of the face plate which I just don't like the look of (and of course the pictures when I bought it didn't show that!)
