New front door cost

Our house has a super old wooden front door with gaps round all sides that let in the cold and the woodlice(!). It is also solid and the hallway is dark so glass in the door would be nice. We are considering replacing it with a uPVC door but have no idea what we would expect to pay.

In case it matters; the house is super old and nothing is straight in here. There is also an original stained glass window above the current door, Im guessing this would complicate matters slightly?

We are in the South West.

You can get made to measure timber doors of course in good quality hardwood with all the 3 point locks etc.

Any companies you recommend or is it a local one you used for composite doors.

We have a really dated UPVC one now

Oh I thought I could just get a new door and keep the window easily! Might have second thoughts then

I would suggest composite rather than upvc. We paid around 900 for ours.

We replaced our old wood door with a composite door with a glass panel with a pattern copied from originals elsewhere in the house - could you do similar based on your top panel?

So we had someone round to quote today who said £630+Vat for a upvc door in a design we liked the look of. They would cut the frame under the top window so that could stay and install the door underneath. We would then paint the window frame to match the door frame.
