Parquet floor badly scratched

I was using a small footstool when sitting at the table to work and I just spotted that it has been scraping the floor under the table - it looks like a dog has been digging away at it.

We can’t get the whole floor sanded/revarnished and the area is around the size of an A4 sheet.

Any ideas?

Lightly sand the area and re-varnish it? We have parquet and every piece of furniture that goes in the room has felt pads on the feet.

Everything else has flippin pads! It was a little footstool that my mum bought when ds was little and it was sitting under a chair. It was just the right height for when I work at the dining room table. I am so annoyed!

I’m worried that if I try to sand it down it will end up with a patch.

If you only sand lightly and use the same varnish as the rest of the floor then that's probably the best you are going to get without sanding and re-varnishing the whole floor. Alternatively you could try a scratch cover polish in the right shade. The result will only be temporary though.

Put up a picture, rubbing a walnut on the scratches has helped ours!

The floor was stained about 16 years ago- the scratches are quite deep.

I tried an almond (I remembered it was a nut) and it made it a tiny bit better but then I tried pledge wood spray which wasn’t a great idea on a floor 🙄!

I seem to remember something about steaming out scratches?
