Help!! Property layout

I wonder if anyone can help with my layout issue. Next year we will be in a position to start building work on our house. I really would love to add a downstairs shower/toilet, but I just can’t see where we can squeeze one in.

The shower that is shown on the attached is a nightmare, we’ve had it fixed numerous times and it still leaks, so have now turned that into a large wardrobe for the 2nd bedroom.

The house is a semi, with a 1 metre side alley, garden is also small so not keen to take space from that.

Our non adjoining neighbours house is a bungalow with the entrance facing our side - so in line with our stairs.

Any suggestions welcomed Smile

The end of the hallway seems the best place

Could you steal space from dining room, to make the hallway longer so you have space to have a doorway to the left, just after the stairs, leading into a long narrow downstairs shower room at the side of the stairs?

The problem with making the hallway longer is that the window there provides the only window/light into the dining room. Which is already dark so that won’t work.

Yes, I think a doorway directly after the stairs may be an option for as you say a long narrow shower room.

I was also thinking of moving the front door to the side and extending front hallway and put a bathroom at the front of the house, but I don’t think I’ll like that once it’s done.

It’s a nice looking house from the front and 3 good size bedrooms but after living here for a while I really hate the layout!
