White paint

We are having a modern extension (kitchen and bedroom above with vaulted ceiling) with black aluminium windows and I am thinking about painting it all white.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the best white paint to use? Should I go for an off white or brilliant white. Is it worth paying extra for a f&b or other more expensive paint? If so has anyone got any recommendations for shades of white? We want something bright as we live in a wood overshadowed by trees.

We've use the Wilko Chalk White emulsion in a few rooms, and really like it - it's an off-white, and really nice quality.

With any paint you get what you pay for. Cheaper paint- less pigment therefore more coats required.

I’m not a fan of F&B (although I’ve used it loads) as it’s hard to both apply and keep looking good. The last job I did I used Johnstone’s trade and was very happy with it.

Screwfix bare plaster white for the bare plaster... trade emulsion for the finish on the walls. Black and white will look very stark unless you complete the theme in tiles, units etc

No need to buy separate paint for sealing the plaster- complete waste. Dilute standard white as per google. Done countless rooms this way.
