Auction "by order of the Mayor's office for policing and crime"

I've seen a house that's been 100% refurbished and obviously been done by a property developer...did too much busy body googling and now found out that this was indeed sold by auction "by order of the Mayor's office for policing and crime" Yikes! Now I'm regretting it and wondering what that even means...drug den, brothel, murder house?!

Please Mumsnet let me know how I might find out what happened there as I admit I'm a bit woo. And would this bother you??

it means the person who owned the house before the auction was found guilty of criminal activity and his possesions were confiscated as money made from crime, so assets are auctioned off usual is selling fake designer goods, drugs, organised crime

Local businessman I know of embezzled funds from his company, was convicted, jailed and assets seized under a POCA order, including the house.

Or could have been a police house, less likely if the auction was recent

Most likely previously owned by the police. There have been a number of old houses round here locally, being auctioned the same.

Police no longer need them so sell them on and it has to be fair for the "tax payer"

Don't worry that someone has been murdered or anything that sinister. It's not!

MOPAC will own the property of the Met police; a Police and Crime Commissioner does for other domestic forces. So yes, sold off, probably through POCA
