Painting kitchen cupboards?

We have laminate kitchen cabinets and are considering painting them. We won't be able to put a new kitchen in for a long while so we thought that, along with changing tiles, worktops, handles etc would be ok for now. (I'm aware you have to use special paint and prep well)

Has anyone done this? If it's gonna look rubbish I'd rather not do it!

I have painted mine. I used melamine primer and then ordinary satin paint. I used a gloss roller to give an even finish without brush marks. it was supposed to be a short time fix as I didn't like their previous colour (dark green). Ten years later and I am just planning to replace the kitchen!

Ditto callmeadoctor.

I haven’t used it myself but have seen the results on the Frenchic FB pages and they look fab.
