First floor extension

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get a handle on what I can expect to pay for this.
Previous owners of our house built a single storey, ground floor extension (they made the kitchen bigger, added a playroom and a utility room). We would like to extend above it to create an extra bedroom (and make one of the other bedrooms bigger).
How much per square metre can I expect to pay? The space we would be creating is around 22 sq metres.

When did they build the extension? Are the foundations substantial enough to build on top?

Depends if you can - our neighbours wanted to do this but the foundations wouldn't have supported it. Also dependa on how much of the roof would need redoing.
