Hi has anyone replaced a large wooden casement bay window?

We have 2 bays, each bay has 4 large Windows with a small window above each one.

We are in London.

Trying to get a rough cost before I get some quotes.

I’ve recently had a quote for a singe wooden casement window, in softwood (it’s big though, 1300mm x 1650mm) of £950 plus vat. I thought that was very high actually so am trying to find more people to quote me!

Thanks, we are getting 2 quotes next week, one said “it will be an investment” when asked for indicative price !

We are in the northwest and recently had a bay with central door refurbished with replacement door and new double glazed accoya wood units. There were 8 new medium sized double glazed units and 9 small new units with the original stained glass encapsulated plus a single door. Cost was around £6.5 k. We had 3 quotes. One was £ 10k the other £6k. They look amazing now but cant afford to get the whole house done!

We looked into this years and years ago (we're also in London) but decided against it and had our original windows overhauled instead - wooden casements at the front and sashes at the back. I don't remember the cost but we had a lot of the glass replaced, the mismatched panels in the fanlights were swapped for obscure glass as were the two end panels in the main bay, rotten wood was removed and replaced, locks and catches upgraded too. I'm so glad we didn't remove them/replace for wood-look plastic as the house looks lovely now and ours is the only house of this age and style on the street that has the original window configuration (blocks of six houses in a terrace but the style changes for each block). It's made a massive difference to the amount of noise and draught that comes into the house.
