How long is normal to wait for a response to an offer?

I am the most impatient person in world and we put in an offer late Saturday, and it is torturous being in limbo land of maybe????

So what are people experiences of positive acceptances of offers time to find out from telling the estate agent?

48 hours I’d say, max

We usually hear back from the vendor same or next day, provided that the offer was passed on. We once made an offer on Saturday morning but only heard back on Wednesday the week after because the EA had days off though and the offer was stuck there.

Do you know if there’s much other interest, or is the property new to the market? If the sellers still have viewings booked or are expecting another offer they’d probably want to take a bit of time before accepting. If the house has been on the market a while though, they’re more likely to come back with a fairly quick answer.

I had my offer accepted within 24 hours, but the seller was going into hospital for major surgery soon after my viewing and she wanted to get the ball rolling ASAP. Even waiting that long was torture!

I’ve got fingers crossed for you 🤞

We waited over a week to hear about our house, but the property was listed through PurpleBricks rather than a traditional estate agent.

A day or two is standard. I'd worry after a week if I hadn't heard.

The offer only went to the vendor today, they have had another offer last week as we offered and another was offered same day both rejected.

I’ve got a stress headache....... surely they could be an easier way to buy houses? I’m not a fan of new houses but can see the appeal of less faffing.

A day. With so much interest might go to sealed bids though. So much for a property crash!

We waited for about a week and a half. We'd gone in low and the vendors had another viewing lined up. It was a horrible wait!

The estate agent rang me, and was very nice but the wife had gone walking for the day and neither he nor the husband could get hold of her. So not a no, but not a yes....

Another night of fitful sleep. It wouldn’t be as bad if there were loads of other things I wanted to go view.
