IKEA Pax tilting sidewards

So as the title says my wardrobe is tilting sideways. We inherited this from the previous owners. Any idea how to fix this? I’m not great at carpentry stuff but I figure that the thin back board seems to have separated which is causing the problem? How do I fix it please? Pictures attached. Thank you!!!

Firstly check all the fixtures are still tight, so those cam bolt nuts, there will be 3 at the bottom of each side piece and 3 at the top. Pay attention to where the little arrow is pointing on each one.

Secondly, do you have at least 1 shelf in there, not the wire one but a wooden one? That adds stability. I have a lot of Pax wardrobes, some of them I had for 15 years + and had moved house with them, they are fairly solid items.

The back panel makes no difference, as the top piece or bottom piece is the thing that holds it together, the back panel just closes up the back. Hope that helps, I can put those things together in my sleep like soldiers are trained to strip a gun blindfold Grin

I think the back does add to the rigidity of it. Can you pull it out and nail it back on? As previous poster said a shelf can also add stability and we found a clothes rail did too

Oh I never thought about it. In fact we recently removed the normal shelf and put wire baskets only! Let me try to get it back. Should it be sort of in the middle to balance things and should I have multiple wooden shelves?

I will check all the bolts and nuts too and report back.

@witsend101
Also good point on removing the back panel and fixing it back. I will try that too!

@EnidsCrochetCorner I really hope I can salvage this one as it fits perfectly in this room. Hope what you said comes out true about pax wardrobes and their stability!

I think in the past the pax used to come with 1 komploment wooden shelf for stability but don't think it does anymore, but it needs it.

Yes, put she shelf in the middle, you can just slot it in under a basket if you have room between them. As wit says reattach the back panel, tape up the joint.

I bought my first pax wardrobes when Ds1 was born, he is now 17. Kept them for 15 years. I name change a lot on here but I will confess to having 5 double pax and a whopping 14 singles! The children have a 4m run in their playroom. We don't have any chests of drawers. Pax used to come with a plastic drawer which was cheaper than the wooden ones and fab!
