Can't get TV to pick up Freeview Channels

I've lived in the same flat for several years watching Freeview TV with no issues. There is an aerial socket in the living room but I can't see an aerial on the building roof.

About 3 weeks ago the Freeview picture started to go. Parts of it were still there but parts of it were pixelated. It still worked fine watching On Demand stuff via Firestick. The tv was old and I was already unhappy with the tv sound which was going so I bought a new tv.

Today I have set the new (non Smart but with built in Freeview tuner) TV up but when I tuned it in it only found 5 channels - London Live and a few Sony Movie channels. They work perfectly but where are the rest?

Since it gets a few channels am assuming there is nothing wrong with the aerial cable from the tv to the socket. Does it sound like a problem with the aerial? I can ask the caretaker on Monday if anyone else has reported a problem with Freeview reception. The only other thing I can think of is that the flat downstairs has been having DIY done - could they have damaged the cable? Although if that was the case surely I wouldn't get any channels? I've also tried the bedroom aerial socket and only get the same 5 channels.

I don't know how to proceed other than talk to the caretaker.

Turn it off for a couple of minutes & retune.

Buy an indoor aerial and plug it into the tv? I didn’t believe it would work but for £12 our freeview works like a charm. And No clambering onto the room.

*roof!

It might be the 5G rollout that's affected it. If you Google Freeview and 5G you'll find a few suggestions. We had an aerial company come and fit some kind of filter or booster and it's worked fine since then.

This suggestion might be to simple but it caught my mother out when she recently changed her tv then complained of losing many channels on Freeview TV.

Turn out she was only seeing HD channels through tuning to 101 or 102 or 103 etc and surfing up the stations as opposed to going 1 or 2 or 3 and her usual surfing.

Is this your issue?

I googled 5G and freeview and it seems many other people are reporting the same. I will discuss it with our caretaker tomorrow and see if others have reported the same.

I pay a hefty service charge to cover the upkeep of the building and this should cover maintaining the aerial so hopefully something can be sorted.
