Seeing you landlord/lady every day

Hi All. I am looking at potentially renting a property from a fellow parent at my children’s school. This means that several times a week we would see each other. One of my children is in the same class as one of theirs too, so at waiting time we will be stood in the same area.

Does this mean that every single time I see them I have to make conversation? I am a polite person anyway but would I now have to go out of my way to be particularity chatty as they would now be my landlord? Or would it all be too awkward? I feel an overwhelming sense of awkwardness would happen. Like I would have to be all ‘thank you for letting me live in your property’ and then house is lovely’ and just over the top all the time! Sometimes it’s nice to just stand quietly gathering my thoughts while waiting for the children and I’m not sure I could do that with my landlord stood next to me. Thoughts please!
