Breakfast Bar

DH and I are renovating our kitchen, and we can't work out what to do with the breakfast bar.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I really like marble but I feel like it's been done a lot and want something a little more interesting. Was wondering if anyone out there could inspire me!

How about doing it like an American diner? They have great counter-top eating set ups.

We have a two-tier quartz breakfast bar/island and I love it. One lower wider tier for food prep (with storage cupboards and wine racks underneath) and then one taller thinner tier as a breakfast bar which has barstools underneath. It is huge and heavy though - c. 300kg of quartz!
