Bures, Alphamstone, Lamarsh

Does anyone know what these areas are like?

Are the roads a nightmare in winter? Good for dog walking?
Are the locals friendly to ex-Londoners?

Is it a night place to live?

I'm in colchester and looking to move out that way. Dont know about the other 2 but although I love bures - and the roads are ok in winter as I drive through there from work - it's the lack of any shops or facilities is making me hesitate. I've got distant family ties there and spent many happy days with my grandparents there having been to the local fete last year and visited the pub I get the impression outsiders will always be just that.
I could be wrong though my social skills aren't all that!!

They are all quite small places, Lamarsh in particular. Limited facilities although Bures has a couple of shops. Bures has a lovely park and the river.

Lots of people are ex-London or work in London from that area (don't know about those places specifically) so I can't see that being a problem.

@howdidthathappen1 Thats good to know about the roads, im happy with lanes but don't ideally want to be cut off for months.

@Amberfest im assuming ill have to shop in Sudbury or Colchester, or just get everything delivered like now :/
I was worried it's a bit too far to commute, so wouldn't have the London commuters, but thats good to know we are unlikely to be the only outsiders!

Yes shops in both Sudbury and Colchester if you don't mind a drive. Of the three I'd pick Bures personally. Lovely canoeing on the river there :)
