Hate new kitchen

I hate my new kitchen, I'm so upset with myself.

The colour just looks awful in the new extension. It's not a paintable kitchen.

It's the main hub of the home it just depresses me when I am in there.

Wouid I be mad to replace all of the doors, end panels etc? The company I got it from have a vast range of doors the same size so it would be simple. It's not bespoke. Love my worktop etc.

I wasn't in right frame of mind when I chose it and I chose bad.

I don't have the money to do it so I'd have to put it on finance/ save

But if he happy / I even hate cooking in it 😢

If you are still sad from November I would save up and change it! Life’s too short.

Remmy123 · 28/05/2020 19:51

Lol that's my kitchen. People always compliment it if it makes you feel better. I can't really get excited about kitchens.

Samanabanana · 28/05/2020 19:55

You can get it professionally resprayed for a very reasonable price- they can do any surface, any colour and the finish is fantastic. Have a look for someone local to you!

Remmy123 · 28/05/2020 19:58

Whose kitchen is it 😂 feline or skinnyhotchoc

How dissapointing, I feel the same about my dining room, I knew before I'd painted it I wasn't happy with the colour but felt I had to as the paint was already bought. 🙈

The units in the photo are in a room with light coloured walls and flooring and it looks lovely although possibly lacking an accent colour? What about changing the handles/knobs ir splashback or 'dressing' the room with items you love to help you feel more positive about it (nice decorative plants, mirrors, pictures).

Witsend101 · 28/05/2020 20:10

Could you just change the colour of the base unit doors rather than the whole lot so it would be cheaper/ more affordable?

Remmy123 · 28/05/2020 20:11

Yes it's missing accent - my pendants are gorgeous but they are see through glass so I'm thinking of changing them to a colour firstly - I've lot loads of plants, scatter cushions etc

It's so lovely, not that it helps.

I'd add some colour with nice crockery, art and a rug and see how that helps.

Could you get some doors sprayed? I like a bit of contrast.

Remmy123 · 28/05/2020 20:25

@westonsupermere - this is a property forum.. !!!!

And you do not know how my life has been affected by this so pipe down.

Just to add - as I face redundancy it's giving me light relief making plans in my home.

It's a kitchen. And if it's like your photo, a jolly nice one.

When I first saw the pic I thought that that's exactly what I'm looking for-our kitchen needs redoing.

We currently have a smooth finish & I don't think that there's anything with it.

Now I've looked again at your pic-if it's supposed to look like panelling-why would it be smooth?

I no longer like what I thought I did!

Hope that you find something that you like, Op-but as a pp has put-don't get into debt for it!

Lentilbaby · 28/05/2020 20:38

I absolutely love it! Very jealous!

XingMing · 28/05/2020 20:39

I had my kitchen revamped last year, and at 63, it's the first (possibly the only time I shall re-do a kitchen from scratch). We kept the flooring, which is now 20 years old, but even so it took two months longer than planned, and almost nothing was changed in the layout. If you spent as many hours agonising as I did, over handles and surfaces and sinks and power points, then it's probably the lighting and the colour that you need to tweak if everything basically works for how you cook.

We didn't plan, or budget for, a new table and chairs, but once we were finished, the ones we had looked tired and sad. The replacements we bought have "finished" the look.

I am in agreement with the PP who suggested that you may need to tweak some elements, or add some art and colour.

megrichardson · 28/05/2020 20:39

I think that your kitchen looks very nice, OP, judging by the pic that you posted that is a similar one. But yes, I suppose you could change a few bits or maybe it will just grow on you?

Batmanandbobbin · 28/05/2020 20:42

I want to know whose kitchen it really is 😂😂

Sorry OP about your dislike of your kitchen I agree wait a month before any changes.
