Hello, we are thinking of moving to Pill, near Bristol. Just me and my husband and our pets (no kids). We’re both 40. Just wondered what Pill has to offer for a couple of our age... What’s the general demographic like? Is it a “nice” area? Any bad or rough parts...? Just wondered how you would rate Pill and if there’s anything I should know?!? Thank you!

...Perhaps I should add something about what is attracting me to Pill... it seems quite down-to-earth, with a village feel, fairly “nice”, not too rough or too posh. Not too far to commute into Bristol. And lovely walks. Hope I’m right! 😊

I cycle through pill to get to work and seems ok but not sure I'd choose to live there. We live in Portishead and I think it's worth the slightly longer journey to move out here. Even better walks by the coast, lake grounds or round the marina and really friendly people and a bit more going on than Pill and still easy to get to Bristol

Hi @pingster, thank you for your reply. I haven’t ever been to Portishead, but on Google Images it comes across as very modern, and made up mostly of apartments and town houses, which isn’t what we are looking for. We need something with plenty of space, and would like a slightly more traditional/rustic environment (while not being too “rural”). Are there any parts of Portishead that fit the bill...? If so I’ll try and head over there at the weekend to check it out 😊👍🏻

Portishead is really mixed. The village quarter and marina are more modern houses and apartment. Around the high st and some of the roads by the lakeground are more older style houses and then out along nore rd theres a mixture of older and newer houses and a bit more space with lovely views out over the estuary. It's well worth a visit to see what you think - we only moved a couple of years ago and wish we'd discovered it sooner!
