The good stuff starts on picture 54.

Bit worried about that Mary Poppins/Exorcist double feature.

The basement is awesome Grin

flapjackfairy · 27/05/2020 17:07

What the heck is a half bath ? And what is the price ? I might just see if I have enough in my piggy bank !

MrsIronfoundersson · 27/05/2020 17:10

How much laundry must they do?!!!

Seeingadistance · 27/05/2020 17:10

Wow!

Half bath is no bath, I think.

That basement!

MoreSchnitzelPlease · 27/05/2020 17:18

It's like having your own personal Milestone's attraction!

Eminybob · 27/05/2020 17:23

I wasn’t expecting that! Really cool. But really weird.

Eminybob · 27/05/2020 17:24

You wouldn’t get that much house for that money in this country

Sarcelle · 27/05/2020 17:24

Half bath is just that. It is a bath that is half the length. Seems to be a thing in the US. I have travelled a bit in US and even a lot of the 5* hotels have 1/2 baths. I don't understand why.

Some of the decor is not to my taste (understatement) but imagining spending lockdown in there.

flapjackfairy · 27/05/2020 17:28

@Sarcelle
Oh thanks , that makes sense !

flapjackfairy · 27/05/2020 17:30

Coincidently I had a caravan with a half bath ! Wasn't quite on this scale sadly !

user1519475227 · 27/05/2020 17:33

Wow! That's my kinda house! The basement kinda reminded me of nursing homes that are little villages for people with dementia

MayFayner · 27/05/2020 17:34

Baths in the US can be very short, it’s something to do with not falling asleep and drowning in the bath. A half-bath, in real estate terms, though, is a WC, like a downstairs loo (with basin obvs).

They use the term “bathroom” for any room containing a toilet. Half bath means there’s no shower or bath in there.

Thurlow · 27/05/2020 17:35

Well yes, you certainly wouldn't get bored in that basement

AnneKipanki · 27/05/2020 17:35

What a place !

ShyTown · 27/05/2020 17:42

Half bath isn’t a mini bath tub. It means just a toilet (and sink) and that the room doesn’t contain a shower or bath tub. Americans don’t seem to like the word toilet and say going to the bathroom (or washroom, or restroom) instead of going to the toilet or loo! So I take it that’s where the half bath phrase comes from??

Mini tubs with a shower over are a thing here though- I think it’s supposed to be to wash kids whilst adults can shower. I don’t get why people don’t just have a proper bath tub though, it’s odd. But you definitely wouldn’t call that a half bath, it’s a full bath meaning you can wash in it!

ShyTown · 27/05/2020 17:44

And wow what a house!! The basement is something else.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/05/2020 17:51

Only half way through the pictures. I'm presuming the proliferance of seating areas is due to the need to have breaks while finding your way from one room to another?

gumball37 · 27/05/2020 18:00

It's a toilet and a sink.

3/4 is a toilet, sink, and standing shower (no tub).

RagamuffinCat · 27/05/2020 18:02

I really love that house!

bengalcat · 27/05/2020 18:06

Ah clicked on this interesting cellar/downstairs expecting a BDSM dungeon - lol never mind

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/05/2020 18:06

I am having serious Laundry Room Envy
Looks like 2 x washing machine and 2 x dryer ......but what is in the middle?
It looks like one of those double drawer dishwashers ?
But in a Laundry ?

Troutfin · 27/05/2020 19:30

WTF??? Do you think they might be Trump supporters?

Lemonylemony · 27/05/2020 22:25

Well why not. I wonder what they do down there? Wander round admiring it?

Best thing I gleaned from that is that the covered walkway between the main house & the pool house is apparently called a ‘breezeway’. I’m so having one of those in my lottery-win mansion.

speakout · 27/05/2020 22:32

Lovely house, hideous decor.
