Don’t want to just go with run of the mill Next etc. As having to order online can anyone recommend good quality places that don’t cost the earth for a new dining set please?

Have you tried etsy? There are some really unique dining sets on there and some are reasonably priced to match the generic things on Next and Wayfair etc.

A lot of the etsy retailers are independents too - sometimes it feels more ethical supporting small businesses on there etc.

We went around all the charity shops and found a nice solid Oak with pull out leaves, Dh sanded it all down and revarnished it so it isn't dark anymore, but a medium/light oak. With matching chairs (6) it cost us under £100 plus his time and effort.

We got an amazing old oak door that has been converted into a 6 seater dining table. Got it on eBay for £150, recommend you scour the internet and get something used / antique.

I'd also recommend Made.com.

We were very happy with The Furniture Market.
