Would you put your property on the market now

Hi , just like the tittle really .
Back story is we had our property up for sale before lockdown which we put off the market because we knew nothing would be going forward during the lock down , anyway estate agent rang and said government has now given a go ahead for them to resume work and wants us to put our property back on the market
Knowing nothing is back to normal as such and we doubt any one out there would even consider buying a property now . Would you accept to put your property back on the market now or would you wait and if you would wait when do you think would be a better time to go back on the market . Thanks

Do you have any need to move quickly? Have you already found a new property?

I did read that prices would drop but not properly yet - that we will really see that in a few months.

DeeplyMovingExperience · 17/05/2020 08:56

We've just put ours on the market because we want to move. We don't "have to" but we want to. It's been our family home for 25 years and we love it here, but we outgrew it a long time ago. Time to move on.

People who want to move will want to move regardless of what's going on.

Zenithbear · 17/05/2020 09:00

Yes I would. There is no need to wait for the perfect time, it doesn't exist.

ShanghaiDiva · 17/05/2020 09:04

I would. I am buying as we are relocating back to the uk and need somewhere to live.
Houses that were on my list before lockdown have been reduced- generally about 30 to 50k on 600/700 asking price- but at least one was (imo) way overpriced.

Junglerum · 17/05/2020 09:05

Mine is currently on - it went on the day of lockdown. There is currently 20

Waiting to view so I wouldn’t be put off.

I would, I am actively looking and just waiting for new properties to come on.

Ask your agent to arrange Video viewings. A few agents are doing that and it is very useful in ruling properties in / out. That should mean any viewings are serious buyers !!

DeeplyMovingExperience · 17/05/2020 09:11

@Junglerum - 20 people waiting to view? That's brilliant. What kind of house are you selling?

DaphneduM · 17/05/2020 09:19

I would definitely put it back on. We did this last year with our home of over 20 years, when many people were waiting because of Brexit! All done and dusted in five months. The thought of a downturn doesn't affect us as it's our last move. Lots of new listings on Rightmove (and lots of reductions), just make sure you price it competitively. I've noticed that good properties realistically priced have sold virtually immediately, so there must be demand out there.

Loofah01 · 17/05/2020 09:20

Nothing to lose is there. Put it on and it will sell or it won't.

roses2 · 17/05/2020 09:26

It's more likely to sell now before the economic melt down kicks in towards Q3 / Q4 this year

Junglerum · 17/05/2020 09:49

@DeeplyMovingExperience my house is a 3 bed terrace - nothing spectacular by any means. It does have a garden and we are up north so it’s quite a lot of property for the money I guess Smile

sbplanet · 17/05/2020 10:37

Where are you moving to?

sbplanet · 17/05/2020 10:37

oops and from?

Newcornishmama · 17/05/2020 13:17

Same position as you and we have put ours back on. Nothing to lose and we get an idea of the market. We will probably rent and see if house prices drop in the coming months before committing to another purchase.

jelly79 · 22/05/2020 06:38

I'd put it on. You don't have to see unless you are happy to.
I accepted an offer on mine before lockdown and it has all fallen through. It sold the day it went on so hoping we won't wait long for some interest, it's been on nearly 2 weeks this time and not had any interest as yet
