All downstairs lights not working

OH checked the main switch and tried to flick it back but wouldn't stay. We then took every plug out of every switch, lights were back for only 2 mins. Then I suggested that we take off the bulb that's the newest. This was in the front room this bulb also had high power and was probably not recommended for this light fixture. Switched back on the mains and all downstairs lights worked. Woke up this morning to find they ain't working again. What could it be? What should I do? Are electricians avaliable atm? Should I just take out British gashome care cover?

Did you put the new bulb back in?

Maybe it is one of the switches.

I had a lighting circuit tripping out like this. I traced the problem to a short in an exterior light.

No didn't put a new one back in

For gods sake stop turning a circuit back on repeatedly with a fault before you either start a fire or get a shock. Call a electrician there are plenty working.
