Setting a completion date...

How long does this normally take? We provided the final documentation to our solicitor yesterday morning, she said she needs 5 working days to draw down funds from the mortgage lender - but asked us when our preferred date to complete is.

We advised next Friday, and she said she is going to check with the vendor's solicitor and let us know - how long should this take?

I spoke to the estate agent who said the vendor wants to complete ASAP, so I just don't understand why they cannot agree on a date there and then, so I can start booking removals etc.

Do I have to wait a while this date is agreed? What is normal?

Normally yes, you have to wait until the date is agreed. There are penalties for not completing on the agreed date.

Get enquiries and check potential dates with your removal companies as they may not be able to do next week!

Agreeing a date is not usually hard
