Help .. fluorescent tube needs replacing

The light in my kitchen has been flickering and now won't switch on. The fluorescent tube says Osram L 36 W/23 and it's about 48 inches long. I've looked online, but they all have different numbers now, e.g L 36 W 840, is this the same?

Thanks.

Should be right. If you have a hardware store that has opened up now, may be best to take it with you so that they can double check. You may also need a new starter for the light too, so best to check the light and probably order a new one just in case

Are you sure it's the tube and not the tube's starter?

yes, might be a faulty starter. You need to measure length of tube and distance between pins.

I think it is a 36W tube. You can get LED versions but the price difference is so high that it would take decades to pay off via reduced electricity consumption.

if you have a screwfix near you, they usually know what they are talking about. Give them a call or raise an online chat to get the right replacement.

Thanks. I've never had fluorescent lights before, so know nothing about them. What is the starter and how do I replace it?

I've ordered T8 Fluorescent Tube 36W G13 240V. It should arrive today, so hoping it's the right one. I tried to contact someone at Screwfix to ask, but got no reply.
