Removing spots of paint from a wooden door

Hello everyone
We have natural wooden doors throughout our flat, most of which have bits of dried paint on them (as per the photos). The paint has been there for several years, and I'd now like to remove it.
Would it be best to sand the paint off or use some sort of paint remover considering how long it's been there for?
Many thanks
Jon

you could try white spirit?

Thank you, good idea. I've give that a try later this week. I was a bit concerned that it might destroy the wood. I'll try a small patch first!
