Those weird paint rollers - anybody try one yet?

Just that, really. I keep seeing FB adverts pop up for these paint rollers that hold the paint inside. No muss no fuss, they reckon. Anybody used one yet, and what was your experience?

It's just that, I started noticing that different companies running these FB ads - I can't even count how many different names I've seen - all offer the same thing, for the same price, and mostly the same camera footage. That feels a bit dodgy to me, or maybe I'm just overthinking things...

In relationships?

fallfallfall · 11/05/2020 00:38

i'm not going to comment on them in a relationship context, but if you really are talking about "painting"walls and ceilings dh and i used them 20+ years ago.
they worked really well if doing the entire house all at once, we were never able to fully clean them to the extent of being able to use them a second time around.

RLEOM · 11/05/2020 00:39

@ErrmWTAF are you planning on having some kind of relationship with it? 🤷‍♀️

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 00:40

Blimey
I know some people are lonely but I was not expecting this.

ErrmWTAF · 11/05/2020 01:30

The rollers were useless when I tried them years ago.

Dulux had an electric version at some point called paint pods but it was discontinued.

sestras · 11/05/2020 10:24

I have one. It takes forever for the paint to go through it but once it does, it's very quick.

Don't buy from Argos - eBay is much cheaper.

Hello, we're moving this thread over to our Property/DIY topic. Smile

Batqueen · 11/05/2020 10:44

I had one, it was useless.

Just painted a bedroom with one, they are very messy to fill even with the fill pot especially from a 10 litre tub of paint. The edger doesn’t work properly and hmmm I wasn’t impressed.

MikeUniformMike · 11/05/2020 20:27

Grin I'm glad I looked at this.

Elouera · 11/05/2020 20:34

Mum used one, but said it was messy and nothing like the adverts at all. Also the roller part was incredibly heavy once filled with paint, so gave a different coverage when it was heavy and full, to when it was lighter and nearly empty.

ErrmWTAF · 12/05/2020 07:49

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I believe ya. I hadn't thought about the roller thing being heavy, but it makes sense. Also, what I had wondered was, that thing can't hold much paint, can it? So, you'd have to be refilling v.frequently.

The reason I was even pondering it in the first place was, I've got a stairwell to paint now - the less faff (for instance, having to do the take and edging stuff), the better. Back to the drawing board, I guess. Grin
