How to make a concrete path look better?

The concrete path running through our garden is old and tired. Also, patched up with different coloured concrete after we had to access a pipe underground. It looks messy and hotchpotch. How can I smarten it up without ripping up the entire path and starting again? Ive considered doing a mosaic design over the top but worried about that raising the level of the path and it being a trip hazard. Also thought about painting it.

WWYD?

Dig it up and start again. Everything about it sounds terrible so get rid and start again.

I’d also start again. It will be like putting lipstick on a rhinoceros. It ain’t going to make it prettier. Sorry op.

Paint might be worth a try. I'd go for a neutral colour and the best outdoor paint you can afford.

Or raise the edges a bit and cover it with gravel?

We had this in our last house and it will depend on a few things but I made it a gravel stone path, I used blue slate stone but now I'd use golden gravel. Just had to tidy it up every now and then as a few would find themselves running away but looked a million times better and didn't cost too much.

You will need enough to ensure the original concrete doesn't show through.

I’m just worried it will create a trip hazard to build anything on top of the path. I know it’s probably bonkers but I think I’ll try painting it! I don’t think it could look any worse.

Think I’ll choose a grey lipstick to paint on the rhino....

Our concrete path is broken in places - some places a bit like crazy paving! Can you just lay more concrete on the top, like a thin layer?

It might be worth adding some edging with some half round timbers and filling it/covering it with gravel?

You can hire machines to dig out the concrete, I have done it and it wasn’t too hard. Then maybe you could lay a brick path where it was?
