Breakfast bar or not?

We have a breakfast bar in our kitchen but if we took it out we’d have space for a dining table in there instead. We’d still have an island as the breakfast bar comes off of it.

We could then turn the dining room into another room - play room, casual lounge etc.

I can’t workout if it’s a good idea or a sign I’ve spent too long at home!

Any thoughts? If we were to sell this house on in time to come, would you prefer a breakfast bar and separate dining room or a kitchen diner? How would you feel entertaining friends for dinner and sitting in the kitchen rather than a dining room? I’m going round in circles!

The two options would still be there

Table in the kitchen and separate dining room if needed

Wouldn’t make much difference to sale

I would do it in a heartbeat.

I'd prefer an actual table any day. We have a large kitchen with table, so have turned the dining room into another living space as we don't do much entertaining. We can, however, turn it back into a dining room quickly at Christmas and other occasions when we have friends or family round.

I'd much prefer space for a table.

Kitchen table and playroom.

Yes go for a table, can you draw up a floor plan for us?

OrchidFlakes · 28/04/2020 16:31

Thank you all! I think we might go for it! I feel like we do rarely use the dining room and the room just doesn’t work so maybe it’s fine for a change Shock

Absolutely would not want a kitchen without space for a kitchen table, in a family home.

We have friends round and eat in the kitchen all the time! Means we have to be a bit tidier with the cooking but it’s much more sociable for the cook.

Kitchen table and playroom, for sure!
